52-minute video

This documentary video transcribes the contemplations and utopian envisionings of some residents of the Marolles neighborhood in Brussels questioning the notion of public space. The residents capacity to appropriate their environment, their individual as well as collective place in light of the growing gentrification of this plebeian, historic area of the city, are among the essential questions of the film.

The video medium itself is questioned and placed at a distance to examine its ability to function as a substitute for a public space by simulating encounters. Thus, all throughout the film, people only exchange words through a television set.
